Act and Direct?

Wed May 27, 2009, 8:08 AM
So I am on the verge of making my film. I am almost fully prepared to shoot everything. My sets are turning out great, most of my crew is available and ready to work and thats the problem... most of my crew, because I am now short staffed. I am not paying anyone and each of them has a life of their own. Most of the non-acting parts I can do them myself i.e. lighting, camera, some sound, and puppeteer, but I am without a leading actor.

The option has opened up for me to either find someone new or do the starring role myself. I don't consider myself an actor, though I have though about it before. I never considered myself capable of playing this particular role. The role of Ian. Some have told me to go for it, though writing, directing, lighting and acting all at once is a very difficult task. I don't know what to do...
Should I go for it? Should I find someone immediatly?

Confusion stirs in me... Some say if you want things done right you gotta do them yourself... but sometime we don't know what we're doing... I would like to know people's opinion if I should be the actor or not? Can I pass on my Director's reign's partially to my assistant who at the moment has not failed me at all to be a very proffesional director and filmmaker... What to do? ... ... ... ... ...
